Abstract

Automatic License Plate Recognition Systems (ALPR) enable the automatic identification and processing of vehicle numbers and other identification information. This article analyzes the operating principles, advantages, and high-demand areas of ALPR. The technological foundations, image processing algorithms, and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technologies of the system are reviewed. Additionally, the advantages of ALPR in terms of speed and efficiency, security, and economic efficiency, as well as its applications in urban transportation, law enforcement, and customs control, are discussed in detail.
